CADHP2 Day 16

Today I added finishing touches in Inventor (few more emboss features - in this project you can't have too many) and worked on 3ds Max file.

And something strange happend. When I imported the main assembly as body objects, one of the glass lenses turned into lightbulb (?!). If I import this one particular lens as mesh object the lens looks normal.

The odd thing is, that I have 2 more similar lenses in whole camera and those are imported without any problem. Thoughts anyone?

So I just switched this one lens as mesh object, and added materials. Test render looks like this

CADHP2 Day 15

So proud. Almost everything is done. The main body, lens with embossed texts, and assemblies. Also part of drawings is ready.

Body assembly:

And Canon EOS 1000d is looking pretty great.

I also started to work on the 3D Max file. I got white background and lights ready.

CADHP2 Day 14

Today a lot of work had been done. To the body, pictograms and parts.

Is start to look really well. I'm happy about it.

CADHP2 Day 13

Today not a whole lot was created in the cack side. I was workin on the main body. I thought that I could create the front part with loft, but no matter how I tried, parts just wouldt look right. There was distinct difference between form and loft.

In the end I worked on free form (again!) and it looks much better.

I worked also on pictograms that are at the back side, I used AutoCad

CADHP2 Day 12

Today more of back side of the body is ready. We can also see how the assembly is going to look like.
In the meantime I am still working on the free form within the body.

CADHP2 Day 11

Today I still am working on the main body of the camera, I was able to create large part of back side. I created also the screen with Canon logo.

This is more demanding task that I was ever imagine.

I just hope that I will be able to finish everything that I want for this project.

CADHP2 Day 10

Creating the main body is was taking a lot more time than I anticipated, so I looked up some tutorials to see if I could use someone else experience to my advantagee. I saw that in Inventor 2016 there is whole section dedivated to free form. We didn't have those informations on our course.

So today I installed Inventor 2016 and everything that took me 4 days in Inventor 2014 I did now in 6 hours. And it looks much better.

I had to also install 3D Max 2016 so I could import files from Inventor for creating animation and renders.

CADHP2 Day 9

Today I created Canon logo in AutoCad as block, then inserted it to Inventor and using Emboss option I placed it on the lens cover.

I worked also on main body

I am creatings Loft's so they are independent from each other. This way I can easily supress one of them so the modelling process is clearer.

CADHP2 Day 8

Today I have been working on a eye piece (as I call it). It's the part that you put your eye when you look through camera

My part looks like this

As I mentioned yesterday, I started to work on body in free-mode. I have Inventor 2014 so the first thing I did use was Derive option, because This way my previous work was not for nought.

This way, when I start to create my spline, I can use Project Cut Edges, and in the result I get an outline of my solid

After creating few sketches I can use Loft to see how my solid is turning out

CADHP2 Day 7

Today I finished all buttons and switches that are on the camera

I also continued to work on the main body. I learned that the method I've been using to create the camera body is, unfortunately, not working for this particular part.
Some of the features are almost impossible to create. So I decided to start working with free-form design. The results are very promising so far.
